How to use it
Three steps
- Set 'Filed in the last N days' (1 = today and yesterday) and 'Max filings'; investment funds and SPVs are removed by default.
- Optionally narrow it by sector, issuer state, minimum amount sold or offering size, turn on 'Only new filings since last run' for a daily feed, and 'Add website contacts' for emails and decision-makers.
- Click Start, then download JSON, CSV or Excel, or schedule it daily and send new filings to Slack, Google Sheets, your CRM, Zapier, Make or n8n.
API
Call it from Python
from apify_client import ApifyClient
client = ApifyClient("YOUR_APIFY_TOKEN")
run = client.actor("aurelix/recently-funded-companies").call(run_input={'daysBack': 7,
'sectors': ['technology', 'health-care'],
'states': ['CA', 'NY', 'MA'],
'minAmountSold': 500000,
'incremental': True,
'enrichContacts': True,
'maxResults': 500})
for item in client.dataset(run["defaultDatasetId"]).iterate_items():
print(item)pip install apify-client. The same input works from the Apify console, a schedule, Make, n8n, Zapier or an AI agent through the Apify MCP server.

Honest limits
What it does not do
- Form D covers only US private offerings under Regulation D and 4(a)(5): no investor names, no round name (seed, Series A), and companies that raise without filing are missing.
- Amounts are as filed; 'Indefinite' offering sizes come back as an empty total_offering_amount with offering_amount_indefinite true.
- The fund filter uses the filing's industry group, 3(c) exclusions and vehicle words in the name; a fund that files as an operating industry under a plain name is not caught, and an operating company named like a fund (e.g. 'Fund' or 'Aggregator' in its name) is dropped unless you switch the filter off.
- The issuer street is left empty when it equals a related person's address, which also happens when executives list the office as their address.
- Website match: only when the company name works as a .com, .ai, .io or .co domain and the site shows the issuer's city or phone; most small issuers get none.
- Website contacts come only from what the company publishes on its own site (up to 5 pages); sites that block crawlers in robots.txt are skipped.
- Days are EDGAR filing dates, counted back from today in UTC; 'Filed in the last N days' is capped at 90, and EDGAR search returns at most 10,000 filings per day (far above the real volume). EDGAR's daily form index lists filings by acceptance day, so it can differ by one or two: on one test day we returned 248 Form D and D/A filings, the index listed 247, and the extra one was dated that day but accepted the next.
- Pace: up to 5 SEC requests per second, about one per filing, so 1,000 filings take a few minutes; the SEC may slow runs that share an IP with heavy users.
FAQ
Questions buyers ask
Is there a cheaper SEC Form D scraper on Apify?
Yes, cheaper ones exist: pink_comic/sec-form-d-startup-funding-leads costs $2 per 1,000 filings and logiover/sec-edgar-form-d-scraper $3.50 on the free plan, against $5 and $3.50 here. This Actor costs more because it removes funds and SPVs by default, adds a company website confirmed against the filing, has a free only-new-filings mode, and can add website emails and decision-makers, charged only when found.
How do I get recently funded startups into a CRM, Google Sheets or an AI agent?
Two ways. For a fixed workflow, add Apify's n8n or Make node, choose **Run Actor**, enter aurelix/recently-funded-companies and map the dataset to the next step. For an AI agent (Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or an n8n AI Agent node), add https://mcp.apify.com/?tools=aurelix/recently-funded-companies as an MCP server and ask for recently funded companies in plain words; setup for each client is in the section above. Runs bill your own Apify account at the same per-result price.
How much does the Recently Funded Companies cost?
$5.00 per 1,000 filings ($3.50 on paid Apify plans), billed through your Apify account; you pay only for results. Apify's free plan includes $5 of credit a month, enough for about 1,000 filings.
What is charged?
One filing-result ($5 per 1,000 on the free plan, $3.50 on paid plans) per Form D filing returned. With 'Add website contacts' on, also one contact-result ($15 per 1,000) per company whose website gave at least one email, phone, social link or named person, so an enriched lead costs $20 per 1,000 ($18.50 on paid plans). Plus a $0.006 start fee per run.
What is a Form D?
A notice a company files with the SEC within 15 days of first selling securities in a private offering under Regulation D (Rule 504, 506(b) or 506(c)) or section 4(a)(5): startups raising seed or venture rounds, SAFEs and convertible notes, plus funds, SPVs and real-estate deals. It gives the issuer, its executives and directors, the industry, the offering size, the amount sold so far and the date of first sale. It does not list investors or the round's name (seed, Series A).
How fresh is it?
EDGAR publishes a Form D minutes after it is accepted, and the Actor reads EDGAR live. A company files within 15 days of its first sale, so a filing usually follows the raise by days to two weeks; date_of_first_sale gives the real date.
Why do so few companies have a website?
Form D has no website field and many issuers are single-purpose LLCs with no site. A website is returned only when the company name works as a domain and the site confirms it with the issuer's city or phone, so it is right rather than plentiful: in a 150-filing cloud run, 15 got a website and 14 of those gave business contacts.
How do I get a daily feed?
Turn on 'Only new filings since last run', keep 'Filed in the last N days' at 1 or 2 and schedule the Actor daily. Each run returns only filings not returned before with the same filters; add a Slack or webhook URL to get a digest.
Is this legal?
It reads only public data any logged-out visitor can see: Form D filings on the SEC's EDGAR system, which are US government works in the public domain, through EDGAR's public search at the SEC's fair-access pace with a declared user-agent, and, when you turn it on, the public pages of the company's own website with robots.txt obeyed. It never logs in and never solves CAPTCHAs. Executives and directors are returned with name and role only, never their addresses. To have a record removed, open an issue on this Actor's Issues tab. You are responsible for using the data lawfully, incl. anti-spam and privacy laws; this is not legal advice.
Can I use it from an AI assistant?
Yes. Every input is described for agents: days back, sector, states and amounts. It works through Apify's MCP server and API.
What happens when a run finds nothing or stops early?
You pay only for filings returned, plus the start fee per run. If your filters match almost nothing, the run stops after reading 300 filings plus 50 per filing returned and says so in its status, so a narrow filter over 90 days does not read months of filings. If the SEC keeps answering HTTP 403 or 429 after back-off, the run stops, keeps every filing it saved and says so. The run fails only when EDGAR search fails for every day you asked for.
How are duplicates handled?
Each row is one filing, keyed by accession_number, and each filing is read once per run. With 'Only new filings since last run' on, filings returned or already checked by an earlier run with the same filters are skipped and not charged; each is remembered for 400 days after it was last seen. An amendment (Form D/A) is a separate filing with its own accession number and previous_accession_number pointing to the one it amends; amendments are left out unless you turn them on.
What happens when a run reaches Max filings?
Days are read from today backwards and, within a day, newest accession number first, so you get the newest filings. Filings the run never reached are not remembered, so with 'Only new filings since last run' on the next run picks them up. Raise 'Max filings' if your daily feed keeps hitting the limit.
Can I change filters on a daily feed without getting repeats?
The 'new since last run' memory is named after the filters (sectors, states, funds, real estate, amounts, amendments), so changing one of them starts a fresh memory and already-seen filings come back. To keep one memory across filter changes, set 'Incremental state name'. Changing 'Filed in the last N days' or 'Max filings' keeps the same memory.
What do the amount and date fields mean?
total_offering_amount is the size of the whole offering as filed; it is empty with offering_amount_indefinite true when the issuer wrote 'Indefinite'. total_amount_sold is what was sold by the time of the filing and total_remaining what is left. date_of_first_sale is empty with first_sale_yet_to_occur true when nothing was sold yet. Amounts are copied as filed in USD, so placeholder values such as 1 appear when the issuer entered them.
How is the sector chosen?
From the filing's industry group, one of Form D's 35 groups, mapped to 12 sectors: for example Computers, Telecommunications and Other Technology are technology, and Pooled Investment Fund falls under financial services. industry_group keeps the original wording, so you can filter on it more finely in your own sheet.
Does it use proxies?
No. Requests go straight to SEC EDGAR with a declared Aurelix user-agent, at most 5 per second, as the SEC's fair-access rules ask. Company websites are read directly with robots.txt obeyed. A run that shares an IP with heavy SEC users can be slowed; it backs off and, if refused, stops with what it has.
Which companies and countries does it cover?
Every issuer that files a Form D or D/A with the SEC, including foreign issuers raising from US investors. 'Issuer states' matches the two-letter code of the principal place of business on the filing; leave it empty to include foreign issuers. Companies that raise without filing a Form D are not in EDGAR, so they are not here.
